Much Like Thanksgiving Dinner, a Little Bit of Everything...

Happy Holidays Everyone! Thanksgiving has come and gone, and soon Christmas will too. So I thought it would be a good time to drop in and say hi, as well as to provide an update now that my Thanksgiving-Day-food-induced-coma has passed. And before you say it—yes, gluttony is a sin. I'm working on it. Maybe.

Anyways... much like the traditional, American Thanksgiving Day meal, we've got a smorgasbord of items to cover including:

Dragon's Fire Update

Halls of the Fallen King Update

Calling All Beta Readers!

The Republic Update

War Torn - Paid In Blood

Book Review #1: Outbreak

Book Review #2: Fire Eyes Awakened

What I'm Reading Now

As most of you know, I had to re-release Dragon's Fire earlier this year when the publisher-that-shall-not-be-named went out of business. At the time, McaMillan Publishers has recently launched Pronoun—a self-publishing alternative for Amazon. The platform was great. It was easy to use, provided widespread distribution, and had the higher royalties than Amazon. Unfortunately MacMillan has said Pronoun is closing their doors. So despite my reluctance to put all my eggs in the Amazon basket, I am tired of publishing/re-publishing work that is already done, so I have opted to simply go directly through Amazon at this point in time. I have reformatted and republished the Dragon's Fire (again), and the ebook is now available through Amazon. The one good thing that came out of this is that I now have the opportunity to enroll it in KDP Select, meaning it is now free in Kindle Unlimited!

Now 2017 was supposed to be a really productive year and a year of releases. Welp, that really hasn't gone the way that it was planned. Between the new job and a host of other things, my productivity has been way down. The good news is that it looks like that is changing. The long hours and extensive travel required for my job are supposed to be gone now, and I should be able to settle into a more normal routine that actually leaves me with enough energy at the end of the day to be write and edit. With that being said, the first order of business is getting back to editing/rewriting The Halls of the Fallen King. Sadly this book is long overdue, but I won't rush it. I need to get it right, and doing so requires that I take the time and go through it line by line. This revision process will probably take a couple months, then I can get it to beta readers. You guys and gals are going to love the next chapter in this series. It's going to takes us to some dark places, figuratively and literally—and it will be worth the wait.

Speaking of Beta readers, are you interested? If you have read both The Chronicles of Aurion & Dragon's Fire, and are interested in Beta reading, then I'm going to need your help. As I get closer to finishing the revision of THotFK, I will be looking to grow the team, so keep a lookout for the signups!

I know we have some fans of my serial work, The Republic, in the crowd. Not much to say here. I simply don't have the time to do both projects right now, so The Republic is being shelved for the time being. Unless someone has a cloning device.

Earlier this year I teamed up with a cast of fantastic authors to bring you War Torn: An Anthology In Seven Realms of Fantasy. The book was a fun project that was a promotional tool that we used to help cross promote each other's works, by offering it free to all of our readers. Unfortunately the anthology was a casualty of the Pronoun closing. The anthology will not be republished, and is no longer available. I will however, eventually add my short story Paid in Blood which was featured in the anthology, in my future release Tales from Darkness. That's all I have for now on the writing front. Now on to other people's books.

Book Reviews

With my miserable schedule I haven't been able to get much reading done over the last six months, but I have been able to finish two books thanks to sitting in airports on and planes. I've given both books a full five stars, and I highly recommend both books. Go buy these books and help some incredibly talented authors, you'll thank me later.

Outbreak

Fire Eyes Awakened

My next read is sitting right next to me. Only 1242 pages to go. :D
